That’s a tricky question for me to answer, because I like so many writers. It’s hard to narrow it down to just one, though there are many favorites spanning different genres.

If I were forced to pick just one, it would be Stephen King, and my favorite series would be The Gunslinger, which took decades to complete and included seven novels. However, Dean Koontz would follow a close second. His novel Strangers is the only novel I have ever physically read more than one time. I have read it three times and listened to it several more.

My library contains more authors than would be practical to list in a single post, let alone multiple posts, but there are a few who are represented by more than a few books. I’ve listened to every book Robin Cook has written that’s more than four hours long. I often skip short stories because I don’t want to spend a “credit” or $15 on something that will only last an hour at speed. I recently completed Jack Carr’s series on James Reece, and have several more of his books to start. Dan Brown holds many spots in my library, along with Karin Slaughter, Mike Kraus, and Bram Stoker. John Gardner and John Grisham are also favorites. I’m always waiting for something by Thomas Harris and David Baldacci.

As you can see, my tastes vary but are only somewhat eclectic. You won’t find romance novels, unless they include a splash of Sci-Fi.

Over the last year, I’ve begun listening to books on writing. In fact, I’ve tried to listen to one educational book for every three novels I complete. This rule doesn’t always hold, but it has improved my writing skills and increased my productivity. These books were also the catalyst for this website.

I hope you – reader – will find this site at least not boring.

Thank you for making it this far,
Greg J. Gardner
